The Kansanshi Dynamos Football Club

Back in time

Kansanshi Dynamos Football Club, originally founded as Solwezi Dynamos FC in 2009, has become a vital part of both the Solwezi community and Zambian football. Later that same year, the club rebranded to Kansanshi Dynamos FC, aligning itself with Kansanshi Mining PLC, which sponsors the club under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives. Kansanshi Dynamos began its football journey in the provincial league and worked its way up to secure a place in the prestigious Zambia Super League after the 2019 season.

The club’s promotion was cemented in a thrilling two-legged playoff against Young Green Eagles. After a narrow 1-0 defeat in the first leg, Kansanshi staged a dramatic comeback in the second leg, with Ryod Alufonso netting a last-minute equalizer from a Nasha Kaya assist, sending the match to penalties. The team triumphed, winning 5-4 in the shootout, securing their first-ever promotion to the Super League. This remarkable achievement brought immense pride to the Solwezi region and marked a historic milestone for the club.

Despite a promising start, the 2019/2020 season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and Kansanshi Dynamos found itself in the relegation zone when the league was halted. However, the club quickly regained promotion after just one season but unfortunately faced another setback with relegation in the 2023/24 season.

Over the years, Kansanshi Dynamos has nurtured fierce rivalries, especially with FQM, which added extra excitement to local derbies until FQM’s disbandment in 2019. The club continues to operate four teams, including youth and women’s sides, showcasing its dedication to talent development and the future of football.

Kansanshi Dynamos’ home ground has always been Solwezi Independence Stadium, with a capacity of 5000. The stadium is regularly filled with passionate supporters, imitating the community’s deep love for the sport. Our loyal fan base is always present to cheer on the boys, creating an electrifying atmosphere and making every home game a special experience.

The club, currently being coached by Zeddy Saileti, remains committed to elevating football talent in Solwezi and beyond, promoting values such as teamwork, integrity, discipline, and passion for the game. The club aspires to become a leading force in Zambian football, with a vision to compete at the highest levels and build a lasting legacy. Today, Kansanshi Dynamos continues to grow, representing the heart and soul of football in Solwezi with pride and determination.
