MATCH REPORT; KDFC Held to a Stalemate at Garden Park

Kansanshi Dynamos Football Club were held to another goalless draw this afternoon, this time against Kitwe United in a National League encounter at Garden Park Stadium.

The result keeps the Mabanga Boys in second place on the table but widens the gap to league leaders Konkola Blades, who now have a four-point advantage with 33 points compared to Kansanshi’s 29.

Kitwe United proved a resilient opponent, frustrating Kansanshi’s efforts throughout the match, including a missed penalty in the 27th minute that could have shifted the momentum.

The game began with early promise, including a 11th-minute corner from Clinton Lubula, who was making his first start of the season. However, the delivery failed to find a teammate.

The turning point seemed to come in the 27th minute when Kelvin Chisamba was fouled in the box by Joe Simbuwa. Referee Mr. Chilufya initially awarded a free kick, but after consultation with assistant referee Mr. Makungu, the decision was changed to a penalty. Unfortunately, Mathews Mwale’s effort struck the woodwork, leaving Kansanshi to rue a missed opportunity.

Kansanshi’s defense remained alert, with Marcel Kalonda making a crucial interception in the 41st minute to clear a dangerous cross.

In the second half, coach Zeddy Saileti made tactical adjustments, introducing Ackson Ndalama and Mike Zozi in the 48th minute for Kelvin Chisamba and Mathews Mwale, respectively.

Kansanshi goalkeeper Sanjase delivered a brilliant save in the 60th minute to deny Kitwe United a potential lead.

Further substitutions saw Timothy Sakala and Rabson Mumba come on in the 62nd minute for Kizito Kezeron and Clinton Lubula. Despite these efforts, Kansanshi couldn’t find the breakthrough.

In the 70th minute, Remmy Chanda stopped a dangerous attack by Kitwe United’s Moffat, with the resulting free kick squandered by the hosts.

In a Post-match, Coach Saileti expressed his disappointment over the missed penalty but praised his players for their effort, acknowledging that it just wasn’t their day.

Looking ahead, Kansanshi faces a crucial test against Konkola Blades in their next fixture. Coach Saileti described this match as a “cup final” and vowed that his team would fight hard to narrow the gap at Independence Stadium this coming weekend.
