Kansanshi Dynamos Football Club continued their strong form, defeating Chirundu United 2-0 in a well-fought match.
The Fearless Mabanga Boys asserted themselves early, with Dalitso Lungu opening the scoring just two minutes in. Lungu’s well-placed header, off a precise pass from Kizito Kezeron, quickly gave Kansanshi the upper hand.
Chirundu United, however, proved to be a stubborn opponent, pushing forward and challenging Kansanshi throughout the game.
In the 14th minute, Julius Sinkala had a promising shot for Chirundu, but his effort went wide.
Chirundu continued their offensive push, coming close again in the 26th minute, as they pressed for an equalizer. A well-placed shot narrowly missed the target, keeping Kansanshi’s goalkeeper Gregory Sanjase alert and ready.
Moments later, in the 28th minute, Chirundu’s Luckson Tembo took a dangerous free kick, but Sanjanse confidently collected it.
Chirundu’s offensive efforts continued into the 38th minute, winning another free kick in a favorable position. Sinkala stepped up once again, but Kansanshi’s defense blocked his shot, holding their ground.
By the 43rd minute, Thomas Tembo found an opportunity for Chirundu with a powerful shot, but Sanjanse was quick to secure it.
The second half began with Kansanshi making tactical substitutions to maintain their momentum, bringing on George Chisala and Rabson Mumba for Titus Chivunga and Timothy Sakala.
Chirundu created another close chance in the 51st minute, delivering a well-placed pass that went unconnected.
Kansanshi responded with intensity, and in the 57th minute, Mathew Mwale scored his first goal for the club, securing Kansanshi’s 2-0 lead.
Kansanshi kept up the pressure, as Kizito Kezeron sent a beautiful pass in the 66th minute, though Dalisto Lungu was unable to make the connection.
Coach Saileti made another change, bringing in Ackson Ndalama for Tranquilin Mwepu, and later, the crowd roared as Kelvin “Kacho” Chisamba was introduced to replace Lungu in the 77th minute.
Chisamba made an immediate impact with his first touch in the 79th minute, nearly extending the lead with a header that went just wide.
As the final whistle approached, with four minutes of added time, Kansanshi Dynamos remained firmly in control, securing a well-earned 2-0 victory in this Week 10 fixture.
In his post-match interview, Coach Zeddy Saileti expressed satisfaction with the victory but noted that his team didn’t play their usual game.
“We underestimated the fatigue. We thought we had managed it, but it showed today. I’m just glad the boys showed up and won this match.” Coach Saileti said.
With this win, Kansanshi Dynamos maintains their position in the league, now just three points behind Konkola Blades.
