KDFC Weekend Recap: Kansanshi Queens Shine with Last-Minute Win

It was a mixed weekend for Kansanshi Dynamos teams, with some hard-fought battles and close calls across all matches. Kansanshi Queens came through as the weekend’s only victors, clinching a 1-0 win over Sporting Doves with a penalty in the final moments of the game. The senior team, Kansanshi Dynamos, showed determination by fighting back to a 1-1 draw against Kafue Eagles in a tough away fixture. Young Kansanshi United also held their ground in a scoreless draw with Mbonge FC, while Kansanshi Academy faced a challenging match, falling 2-0 to Solwezi Pirates.

Kansanshi Queens Shine with Last-Minute Win
Kansanshi Queens secured a 1-0 victory against Sporting Doves, with Faith Chitonji converting a penalty in the 92nd minute after Docus Kupenda was fouled in the box. Earlier, Jane Ngulube missed another penalty due to a great save by the Doves’ keeper. The game was intense, with Sporting Doves disputing some officiating decisions. Kansanshi Queens now has three victories, one draw and one loss with 10 points from their five games played.

Kansanshi Dynamos Draw Against Kafue Eagles
The senior team, Kansanshi Dynamos, fought hard to come back from an early setback, ending with a 1-1 draw away to Kafue Eagles. Despite conceding in the 8th minute, the team levelled the score just before halftime through Dalitso Lungu’s sixth goal of the season. Both teams created chances in a competitive match, with goal-line clearances and crucial saves on both ends. Coach Zeddy Saileti acknowledged a slow start but praised the team’s spirit, securing a valuable away point. Kansanshi Dynamos still sit second on the league table with 24 points, just two points behind top placed Konkola Blades.

Young Kansanshi United Held by Mbonge FC in a Draw
Young Kansanshi United recorded a goalless draw against Mbonge FC in the Division One Northwestern league, a game marked by a reunion with several former players. The team drops to fourth place with 14 points. The team has now recorded five draws, three victories and one loss.

Kansanshi Academy fell 2-0 to Solwezi Pirates in their Division Four Northwestern league fixture.
