It was a weekend full of action across all levels for Kansanshi Dynamos FC, with key results shaping up as the club continues its competitive journey.
Kansanshi Dynamos FC (National Division One)
An exciting weekend for Kansanshi Dynamos FC, as they secured their third victory of the season in week five, defeating Kafue Celtics at Independence Stadium in Lusaka. This much-needed win comes after two consecutive games without maximum points, serving as a significant morale boost for Zeddy Saileti’s side.
Central defender Marcel Kalonda scored his first-ever goal for Kansanshi Dynamos, dedicating the emotional moment to his father, who is currently hospitalized in Congo. This victory sees the team climb the ladder from fourth to second place on the log, with 10 points.
Young Kansanshi United (Provincial Division One)
Elsewhere, FAZ North-western Provincial League champions, Young Kansanshi United, are still in search of their first victory. They recorded another draw in week four, playing out a stalemate against Ikelenge Young Stars in Ikelenge.
Despite the slow start, Coach Mwape Kasunka remains positive, stating that he’s building a new team with 17 new underage players to replace those who have aged out of the club’s developmental side. He believes they will soon start picking up maximum points. The team now has three points from four games played after losing one and drawing three.
Kansanshi Queens (Women’s National League – Northern Zone)
Kansanshi Queens were not in action this weekend, but took the opportunity to travel to Manyama to observe a week two match between Manyama Queens and Mufulira Wanderers Queens. Kansanshi Queens will return to action on October 12, facing Manyama Queens.
Kansanshi Academy (FAZ Division Four North Western Under 17 Boys)
Kansanshi Academy celebrated their first win of the season in week two, after a draw in their opening match. The team secured a 1-0 victory over Focus Academy, with Cacious Musuku netting the winning goal in the 23rd minute, thanks to an assist from Mike Kanyika. The match was not without drama, however, as Musuku received a red card in the 35th minute, leaving his team to battle on with 10 men.
